This pretty DIY Farmhouse Style Christmas Sign is quick to make and will be the perfect rustic touch to this year’s Christmas decor!

Using an old picture frame and my favorite oil-based Sharpies, I made this Farmhouse Style Christmas Sign in about 30 minutes! Like me, I’m sure you’ve got plenty of unused frames in your home. So all you need to do is pick up the Sharpies and download my template to make this sign.

How to make a farmhouse style glass framed sign

Print up the template. Remove the glass from the picture frame and wipe it down with an alcohol wipe.

A simple DIY Christmas craft that using oil based Sharpie pens


Tape the template to the glass so that when you flip it over, the template is facing you the correct way.

Use Sharpie paint pens to create a farmhouse style Christmas sign

Trace the outline of each letter with a fine tip oil-based Sharpie and then fill in with color. Be slow and careful but if you make a mistake you can easily fix it with an alcohol wipe or a q-tip.

Write on glass and frame it for easy farmhouse style Christmas decor

Remove the template from the glass. Fix any places that don’t have enough color or where the lines aren’t crisp (tip: here’s where the extra-fine tip comes in handy!).

Use a glue pen to secure the glass in your DIY farmhouse style Christmas sign

Dampen the inside of the frame and then run the glue pen along the inside edge. Secure the glass in place. Wipe off any excess glue. Allow to dry for several hours.

There’s endless possibilities for this besides this basic phrase. You could add a drawing or keep it simple and add some falling snow to this phrase, even! So fun!

Farmhouse Style Glass Christmas Sign

Create your own rustic, simple holiday message in a delightful way.

Materials

  • Picture frame
  • Printed template of your choice of wording

Tools

  • Oil-based fine-tipped permanent markers
  • Alcohol wipe
  • Cotton swap (for any corrections)

Instructions

    1. Print up the template. Remove the glass from the picture frame and wipe it down with an alcohol wipe.
    2. Tape the template to the glass so that when you flip it over, the template is facing you the correct way.
    3. Carefully trace the outline of each letter with a fine tip oil-based permanent marker and then fill in with color. If you make a mistake, wipe off with an alcohol wipe or a cotton swab.
    4. Remove the template from the glass. Fix any places that don't have enough color or where the lines aren't crisp.
    5. Dampen the inside of the frame and then run the glue pen along the inside edge. Secure the glass in place. Wipe off any excess glue. Allow to dry for several hours.
